these past few weekends...

Even though she was buried alive, Baby Corolla survived another epic snowstorm! She's such a champion, even though she hates snow as much as I do. Baby and I are a great team.
We took a much-needed road trip up to the cabin with Daniel's family. On the way up, we listened to good old-fashioned mix CDs in the Jeep. At the cabin, we made a chicken pot pie, almost finished a crossword, munched on chips and salsa, and cuddled up to watch a movie. We also took in the beautiful scenery on the ATVs, had deep conversations about religion and dinosaurs, and figured out how many Sorensens it takes to change an ATV battery. I wore my raccoon hat the whole day :)
The Jazz played the Pistons, and won! Thanks to Groupon, we were there to support them. Oh, and of course the Lawrences were there too!

We ate at Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana downtown on St. Patrick's day, and it was amazing. Have you ever eaten there? My sister-in-law who served her mission in Italy says it's the place to go in SLC for authentic Italian-style pizza. The appetizer we ordered looked amazing (and tasted even better), and my pizza had enough kalamata olives on it to make me one happy camper.

Oh weekends, why do you come and go so quickly? Please come again soon!

In other news...I have less than 2 weeks of student teaching left (eep!), I'm about a month and a half away from graduating (double eep!), and life is good around here in the Sorensen house. I'm excited to have a little time to myself after student teaching is over. It's been a long, long year. Hip, hip, hooray!

life, according to the camera phone.

It's been a busy week for M and D! Here's what we've been up to, according to my camera phone.

[1] - Thrifting adventures with my siblings. Check out these canisters I found!

[2] - Grocery shopping so late at night that the wolves are out at Smith's Marketplace.

[3] - A few too many final projects. I went through 3 glue sticks in one day!

[4] - Taking care of Blackjack the bunny rabbit while my family was out of town. We also may have borrowed some cable and laundry services while we were checking on her ;).
p.s. You know you need a vacation when you've taken care of people's pets while they are out of town more times than you have gone out of town yourself.

[5] - Relaxing with our herbal red apple tea after running at Sugarhouse Park.

Not pictured:
[6] - Seeing Crazy Stupid Love for girl's night. I think we'd all recommend it if you're looking for a good movie, but I don't think we'd recommend sitting on the front row.

[7] - Daniel getting pulled over while he was driving home from the cabin with his friends. They got out of a ticket (hooray!) but they did have to explain that all the open bottles in their car were IBC root beers - not actual beers.

[8] - Me being angry at Best Buy's car audio department. If you need car audio work done, I'd go somewhere else and save yourself the trouble.

[9] - Catching up with Lauren over Shark Week. Love that girl so, so much.

[10] - Realizing that my brother Steven looks a lot like Ryan Gosling. Oh wait, that can be pictured:

RYAN GOSLING:

STEVEN:

TWINS!!! Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees this. Because I'm pretty much dying about it.

P.S. Don't forget to send me your favorite memories/activities from elementary school! And a big thanks to everyone who already has - it helps so much! You've sent some great ideas!

lately.

Just a few things we've been up to lately.

1. Wandering around the Salt Lake Arts Festival.
2. Sipping Jamba Juices.
3. Learning to cook artichokes.
4. Playing guitar (or if you are M, getting serenaded by the guitar).
5. Going on little dates to the Bountiful Temple.

6. And perhaps my favorite, attending beautiful weddings!

Thanks to Mel Nash Baucom for letting us be a part of your special day!

What have you been up to lately?

M+D+Cars=Death

We have had the absolute worst month with cars. It's getting kind of ridiculous. D and I are on a first-name basis with half of the mechanics and insurance agents in the Salt Lake Valley. Every single one of these things has happened to us in the last 5 weeks or so. Ready? Here we go.

1. Early in May, I got in a legit car accident in the Corolla. It had to be in the shop for like 2 weeks, so I had a to drive a rental car.

2. The same day that I got into my car accident, D got pulled over and got a ticket for having one of his tail lights out (soooo lame, right?!) Turns out, his tail light was cracked and it had filled up with water, so it wasn't an easy fix. We had to take it to a repair shop and pay to get the entire thing replaced.

3. The day after I got the rental car, I was driving to work and a giant rock hit the windshield and chipped it. Welp, there goes the deposit...

4. When my car finally got out of the repair shop, it started steaming and smoking everywhere while I was driving it home. Overheated. No one could come pick me up, so I had to wait for a guy from the repair shop to come rescue me. Oh, and this all went down on a very sketchy part of State Street, mind you. On the hottest day of May.

5.  Two days ago, D and I were driving his Saturn around on a few errands. We went to park the car and get out, but the keys would NOT come out of the ignition. They wouldn't even turn. We tried for half an hour, and had absolutely no luck. All of the repair shops were closed because it was like 10:00 at night. Finally, D ended up driving the car to his friend's house, and they figured out some way to shut the engine off with the keys still inside. We had to borrow a car from D's parents so that he could drive to work until we can get the car fixed.

6. Cut to today. We finally find some time to take D's Saturn to a repair shop. We got it there just fine, but as we were coming home from the shop in my Corolla, we noticed that the car we borrowed from D's mom had a flat tire. And no, I don't mean just low on air. The tire is legitimately FLAT.

And there you have it, folks. Currently, the Saturn is at the repair shop, D is outside changing a flat tire, and I am blogging about our ridiculously terrible luck with cars. I can't wait to see what happens next.

recent happenings...according to the camera phone.

[one] - Oh, you know. Just snow in May. On the way to the U for summer semester.

[two] - Bee's game. Sometimes D forgets he's in the picture when he's trying to take it.
[three] -  Sometimes I make pretty sparkles on the wall when I wear my sequin shirt.

[four] - A great picture from my student's textbook.

[five] - An actual assignment in one of my college classes.

[six] - Just an average day and an average paper tower at the tutoring center.
