happy easter!

It's not Easter without Easter church outfits!

And it's also not Easter without coloring eggs...

Thanks to my awesome Cricut machine (and the Sorensens for giving it to me for Christmas), we made stickers out of vinyl to put on the eggs before we dyed them. You just peel them off after, and voila!

We even made "M loves D" eggs, just for the blog.

Happy Easter everyone!

I hope we can all remember our Savior today, and all He sacrificed for us so that we can live again.
I know He lives.

One excited aunt over here!

I just have to take a minute here and brag about my brand-new nephew...

Liam John Sorensen

Is he not the cutest?! I'm dying!

Baby Liam was born yesterday afternoon to my brother- and sister-in-law Sam and Jessica. He weighed in at 9 lbs. 5 oz. and was 21.5 inches long. And might I just add that Jessica delivered him without an epidural! She's a total rockstar, right? And I'm super jealous of their cute name choice!

I won't steal all their thunder, though. All the exciting details of Liam's very first birthday are on their blog!

We are so happy for Sam and Jess, and their little family.
(And we're pretty excited for us, too!)

Dear Utah: I love you, but your weather is bipolar.

And let's be honest - I'm kinda getting sick of it.

You see, I'm a warm weather gal. I think you knew that already. Because lately, you seem to enjoy tempting me with these little tastes of the sunny weather I crave, but just when I'm feeling content, you rip it all right out from under me with some horrible storm! Personally, I think it's verging on rude. I feel like a sad little girl who's ice cream keeps falling off the top of her ice cream cone.

This is what I'm talking about:

On Saturday, I spent the day...
chatting outside with friends
sipping jamba juices
watching lacrosse games
and even getting a little sunburned.

On Sunday, I spent the day...
taking long walks with D around our neighborhood
wearing shorts
admiring spring flowers
and waving at people I didn't even know.

But today, I've spent the day...
with my (super awkward creeper-looking) hood on
wearing soggy flats
and jeans with soggy pant legs
while dodging a million worms on campus.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...please give me my warm weather back. To stay this time. I'd really appreciate it.

Love always,

M

P.S. I know there's a chance you won't respond to my letter. I have a feeling you're getting a whole lot of hate-mail right now. So, I'll get out my rainy day music just in case. It's possible that this song might just cheer me up. Maybe.

nails.

Spending time with the Sorensens always reminds me
that I was totally meant to marry into that family.

A quick visit from Daniel and I for my father-in-law John's birthday today quickly turned into an evening event, as usual. Marilee (my mother-in-law), Kimi (my sister in law) and I had way too much fun painting our nails with their impressive nail polish collection while we had an in-depth discussion about Disney villains. I haven't painted my nails in ages! Although it wasn't even planned, and we probably kept the Sorensen's up way too late, it felt like a much-needed girls night.

I Wish and I'm Thankful

I wish this semester were already over.
I'm thankful for the weekend so I can finally catch up.

I wish the dishes would do themselves.
I'm thankful that I have a dishwasher.

I wish I knew what grade I was going to be student teaching.
I'm thankful that the school I was assigned is close to my apartment.

I wish this week were spring break all over again.
I'm thankful that it's spring break for my tutor students.

I wish I were able to spend more time with my girlfriends.
I'm thankful that I got to see some of them last weekend.

I wish the weather were warmer.
I'm thankful that it didn't rain or snow today.

That time when I drove a steamroller.

This was officially the coolest art project I have ever seen. EVER.
Each one of these boards (also called a "matrix" in art lingo) was made by one of the classes at Woodrow Wilson Elementary. Then, the kids got to watch as their masterpieces were made into prints. Check it out!

Step 1.  Roll black ink onto matrix.

Step 2.  Lay matrix on driveway.

Step 3.  Place paper on top of matrix.

Step 4.  Cover matrix with padding.

Step 5:  STEAMROLL!

Step 6:  Reveal.

Cool, huh?!

They made a ton of different prints:

And guess what? I even got to drive the steamroller...
