BABY SORENSEN!!
Back story: We found out I was pregnant early in March. An adventure ensued, because we had booked a cruise to Catalina + Mexico with Daniel's family months before we knew. Because of this, I got to have a super early ultrasound at 8 weeks to make sure all was well for me to go. It was! And that is how I ended up on my first cruise during my first trimester of my first pregnancy. Luckily, baby and I did just fine!
I actually felt pretty good for the first few weeks. Then, around week 8, food started to be less appetizing. After a few days of that, the full-blown "morning" sickness hit. I only had one truly terrible day with vomiting, but I pretty much hated food for a solid month. It was a constant battle of finding something to eat that didn't make me want to gag. Once I ate something though, I was perfectly functional. I know I had it a lot better than some others, so I feel very blessed.
That brings us to present day! I'm now 15 weeks (whaaat), and my relationship with food is much improved. We've even started to see a hint of a baby bump happening over here! I'll leave you with some stats, as well as a quick "wave" hello from Baby Sorensen at our last ultrasound!
How far along? 15 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Lost about 7 pounds in the first trimester, but I've gained a few of those back by now.
Stretch marks? Not yet.
Sleep: About this. These days, based on my sleepiness level, I can tell you with about 98% accuracy when it is precisely 8:30 at night. Usually I can stay up a little bit later than that. But, based on the amount of first-halves of movies I've seen lately, my track record is not so great. I do tend to wake up earlier because of this though. So that is one positive!
Best moment this week: Telling my students!! It was amazing, you guys. It deserves it's own post.
Have you told family and friends: Yes. Family has known for a while, and the rest of the world found out today.
Food cravings: A few foods have sounded good this whole time, even during the food-hating phase. Are these cravings? No idea. Anyway, they are: any fruit (especially honeydew melon), applesauce, mashed potatoes, plain goldfish crackers, cheerios, popsicles, and...banana Slurpees from 7-11. Also, I have recently rediscovered my love for Chex Mix.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Fish. Red meat is hit or miss also. AND...swallowing pills is officially the WORST. Gummy prenatals all the way.
Have you started to show yet? I can totally tell, and once I tell people I think they notice. But it's nothing major yet.
Gender prediction: Daniel and I both think it's a girl. Who knows, though! We'd love either one.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!
Maternity clothes? Not yet. I broke out the hair-tie trick on my jeans recently. I also purchased a belly band, but I've yet to use it.
Movement: It's so hard to tell! Sometimes in the evenings if I'm sitting still, I swear there is stuff going on in there.
Labor signs: No.
Belly button in or out? In.
Milestones: Baby and I checked off the first trimester a few weeks ago! Wahoo!
Looking forward to: Finding out gender!
And here is the official First Bump Photo:
(taken at about 14 weeks, at the end of the day, which makes a big difference surprisingly)
